Prior to enlisting with the Deathwatch, he was a [[Space Marine Captain|Captain]] within his home [[Chapter]]. At one point, Bresnik (along with his fellow Watch Captains [[Drusus (Deathwatch)|Drusus]] and [[Seumas]]) were called on to consider a petition by [[Chaplain]] [[Ortan Cassius]] to lead a [[Kill-Team]] to the [[Ghosarian System]] to discover the fate of a [[Kill Team Excis|previous team]] who had failed to report in. After hearing Cassius's report on the events leading up to the mission, both Drusus and Bresnik denied Cassius's request, believing a mere delayed report was insufficient to justify a priority mission when the Deathwatch's resources were already spread thin. With the aid of Seumas, however, Cassius was able to go around the Watch Captains' backs and organise a mission anyway.{{Fn|1}}
