==History==
The 42nd Paragonian Armoured was raised in '''395.[[M41]]'''{{Fn|1e}} to reinforce [[Battlegroup Kalidar]]{{Fn|2}}, an [[Astra Militarum Battlegroup|Imperial Battlegroup]] formed to liberate [[Kalidar IV]] from the invading [[ork]]s of [[Waaagh! Gratzdakka]].{{Fn|1a}} However, due to the imprecise nature of [[warp travel]], they ended up taking two years to arrive at the [[Kalidar System]]{{Fn|1a}}{{Fn|1b}}{{Fn|1f}}, allowing the orks to gain a foothold on the planet.{{Fn|1a}}{{Fn|1f}}

In the subsequent [[Kalidar War]], the 42nd were one of the regiments deployed on the [[Kostoval Flats]] to break the orks' siege of the [[Urta]] mining complex; they were assigned to guard the flanks of the two [[Solon's Axe]] formations that made up the Militarum's advance.{{Fn|1a}} However, the Imperials were ambushed by the orks as they travelled through the desert, coming under attack from mobs of [[Tankbusta]]s and a number of [[Gargant]]s, including a [[Witch Engine]].{{Fn|1a}}{{Fn|1c}}{{Fn|1f}} The Militarum were forced to retreat, with the 42nd taking heavy casualties (the 2nd and 3rd [[Imperial Guard Company|companies]] in particular were almost completely wiped out whilst trying to support the [[7th Paragonian Super-heavy Tank Company]]).{{Fn|1c}}{{Fn|1f}}

Following the Kalidar War the 42nd Paragonian Armoured was disbanded due to its losses and their number was assigned to a new regiment.{{Fn|2}}
