The '''Dracosan Armoured Transport''' was an armoured personnel carrier used by the [[Imperial Army]] during the [[Great Crusade]] and [[Horus Heresy]],{{Fn|1}} employed almost exclusively by forces following the [[Solar Auxilia]] order of battle or similar formations,  like the household troops of certain [[Rogue Trader|Rogue Trader Militants]] or the elite retainers of high status [[Imperial Commander]]s.{{Fn|2b}}

==Overview==
The Dracosan Armoured Transport was manufactured on several dozen [[forge world]]s across the [[imperium]] to standards only usually required of war machines destined for service with the [[Legiones Astartes]].{{Fn|2b}}

The Dracosan was large enough to accommodate a full-strength [[Lasrifle Section|Infantry Section]] of twenty troops, and heavily armoured enough to protect them from intense enemy fire.{{Fn|2b}} Its armour was greater than the ubiquitous [[Rhino]] and included an  inherent rad/alchem protection as well as a life support system of greater endurance.{{Fn|2a}}

Equipped with a fearsome array of weapons of its own, including either a powerful twin-linked [[lascannon]] or a mighty [[demolisher cannon]] at the expense of some of its transport capacity, the Dracosan could steadfastly defend itself against enemy counter-attack and pound an adversary’s emplacements to dust before those on board disembarked to storm enemy positions.{{Fn|1}} In addition, the Dracosan was equipped with a [[searchlight]], [[extra armour]] and a [[smoke launcher]]. It could also be further outfitted  with a [[Flare Shield|flare shield]], a [[dozer blade]], an [[Auxiliary drive|auxiliary drive]] and armed with a [[pintle-mounted]] [[multi-laser]] or [[heavy flamer]] and up to two [[hunter-killer missile]]s.{{Fn|2b}}
