==Number of Marines?==
Currently, the page says that there are "more or less 1200 battle-brothers" in the Space Wolves chapter.  Is there any actual evidence, or is this just going on the "100 marines in a company" formula? [[User:Th232|Th232]] 11:07, 15 March 2007 (CET)

:The later, but it is sustained by everything we know. The Space Wolves have 12 Great Companies. Notice that all these numbers are never truly precise as some marines die in battle and new are recruited all the time. We also shouldn't forget all marines who aren't "true" Battle-brothers: Techmarines, Rune-priests, officers of the Strike-Cruisers and Battle-barges, etc. This would increase the numbers of all chapters. But it should be around 1200 give or take. The Space Wolves were one of the smaller '''legions''', but the chapter seems to be a bit bigger than the average number. Well actually, there isnt any real evidence either way, other than the fact they only Split once in the heresy, and speculation that the Wolf Brothers were just a ploy to shut the Smurfs up. Personally, I feel that the Space Wolves are smaller than a Codex Chapter ([http://warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=178563 See here for a compelling argument]) but as said theres no real evidence either way. --[[User:LemanRuss|LemanRuss]] 13:18, 30 Jan 2009 (GMT)

Well a legion originally consisted of 10.000 marines, substract about 2000 marines(CoW), add about 100(Russ's Lt's), divide by roughly 1,7(split into wolf brothers), and you should wind up with a reasonable number of marines.
about 4765 marines, not counting support personal, etc, etc. each great company sees to it's own recruiting, maintaince of fleet, armory, motor pool aso. - thanks Cliffing 14:35 Feb 24th 2010 (GMT+1)

i know this isnt a big deal, but isnt the chapter badge really the "wolf that stalks the stars"? the wolf head in profile is just the badge for ragnars company, isnt it? youngstunna3486 10:13 20 April 2008

From what I know there is no real 'chapter emblem' such as the Ultramarines. On the right shoulder is the unit designation and on the left is the company emblem. Simply because Ragnar is so bamf do we see the Blackmane badge all over the place. Just a slight note, someone added Haegar to the list of notable Space Wolves, although i haven't finished the last book, i somehow doubt that his actions would boost him into the limelight. If adding major characters from books then why not the several hundred other characters mentioned in the series. Though there are 12 active companies the 13th Company is reserved for all those lost to the chapter over its existence. The remnants of the 13th Company are a separate force aside from the Grand Annulus. - VoiceOfSver (21:25 MST 4 May 2014)

It says that Fenris is located in the northern Segmentum Solar but all maps of the Imperium I have ever seen show it in the Obscurus Segmentum. Which is the real one? Or is it right on the border of both? - unknown user

As I understand it the Segmentums (much like everything else in the Universe) are not strictly defined and/ or not concrete. Segmentums can overlap and I do believe that is where the confusion arises. -Through my quick research of codices and rulebooks I have found four references to the location of Fenris. In the [[Warhammer 40,000 4th Edition Rulebook]] on page 90 is a galactic map. Fenris is located well within Segmentum Obscurus. In [[Warhammer 40,000 5th Edition Rulebook]] on page 116 is the galactic map with Fenris located in Segmentum Solar. Within [[Codex: Space Wolves (2nd Edition)]] in the description of Fenris it is said to be located at the edge of the region of the Eye of Terror. Within [[Codex: Space Wolves (5th Edition)]] in the description of Fenris it is said to be located 'in the galactic north of the Segmentum Solar, at the edge of the region of the Eye of Terror. [I do not have the newest rulebook yet so that may say or show something different...]. Three of these four references hint toward the location being close to the Eye of Terror and [[Warhammer 40,000 4th Edition Rulebook]] is the outlier showing Fenris well within Segmentum Obscurus (though it can be mentioned there is no distinction of the Eye of Terror being segmented away from everything else). - [[User:VoiceOfSver|VoiceOfSver]] (17:14 MST 5 May 2014)
