Shadowlight

The Shadowlight was an old Xenos artifact created by a race known only as the Ancients.

The exact purpose of the machine was unknown but it was able to influence the Warp and even turn latent Psykers into active ones. The artifact was said to be as old as the Necrons and perhaps a legend among the Eldar. It was located in the Valley of Daemons and was studied by the Adeptus Mechanicus as well as the Ordo Xenos. A rogue Inquisitor of the Imperium of Man attempted to use it to create an army of Psykers to use against Chaos.

During its study, Warmaster Varan attempted to make use of its power but was stopped in his plan and the machine was later captured by the Necrons.¹
