The Autogun is a projectile weapon similar in appearance and operation to automatic rifles of the twentieth century.1 Unlike ancient firearms, autoguns typically use caseless ammunition, made of metal, plastic or ceramics, and are constructed with plasteel, increasing their rate of fire and reliability.1
Although considered obsolete and as so phased out of most Imperial Guard arsenals, autoguns often find their way into the hands of all forms of militia and gangsters (like gangs that plague massive hive-cities of the planet known as Necromunda), as well as being the standard service rifle of Planetary Defence Forces in less advanced cultures.1
