The sagas of the Space Wolves Chapter chronicle their history and lore. Unlike other Space Marine Chapters they preserve the past through oral tradition rather than in written form.

The Space Wolves' custom of memorizing past events in sagas originates from the traditions of the native tribes of their homeworld Fenris.[2] It is the responsibility of the psychic Rune Priests to memorize these tales. Each of the Chapter's twelve Great Companies has its own history which is passed to aspiring Rune Priests as they move from one Company to another during their training.[1]

Known sagas

The Saga of Leman Russ is an account of Primarch Leman Russ's life as King of Fenris. It includes notable events such as his fateful reunion with the Emperor. It is the most prominent and revered saga of the Space Wolves and is traditionally retold by the Rune Priests each Allwinter's Eve.[2]

The War of the Giants

The War of the Giants is a recount of the duel between Leman Russ and his brother-primarch Magnus the Red at the height of the battle for Prospero.[2]

The Saga of the Weregeld

The Saga of the Weregeld retells the events of the Siege of the Jarelphi Palace, a conflict set in the years of the Great Scouring.
