Adeptus or Adept is a title given to all the servant of the Emperor be they high ranking officials or low scribes. The title is much respected by all who bear it. Anyone down to some high ranking Imperial Guard members can carry the title.
Similar is the title Tech-Adept of the Adeptus Mechanicus.
