A Codex Chapter of Space Marines follows a strict organisation of their forces and doctrines, based on the Codex Astartes. The Ultramarines are the quintessential example, and most of their Successor Chapters follow their example. For this reason, the Adeptus Terra favors their gene-seed for creation of new Chapters, resulting in more than half of the current Chapters being descended from the Ultramarines.1
