Paulis III was an ineffective and frankly useless Ecclesiarch raised to power with the backing of Goge Vandire. Soon after his rise to power, Vandire led a unit of Imperial Guard commanders into the Ecclesiarchal buildings and had Paulis shot as a traitor. He then took over control and began the Reign of Blood.[1]
