The Three Sisters of Spite was a name given by the Imperial Fists Legion[1b] to three Frigates in their fleet: the Lachrymae, Ophelia and Persephone.
The three ships were originally given as a gift to the Primarch Rogal Dorn, by his brother Roboute Guilliman and since that time, the Three Sisters of Spite always went into battles as a group; where they earned a fearsome reputation. During the later years of the Horus Heresy, the Three Sisters of Spite served under Captain Sigismund, as part of Terra's First Sphere of defense; with the Lachrymae serving as the Captain's personal command ship. Though there were larger ships Sigismund could have used, he chose the Lachrymae due to it being the fastest ship under his command[1a]. Meanwhile the Persephone went to Fafnir Rann and the Ophelia to Boreas.[2] This speed greatly aided the Lachrymae and her Sisters, when the Alpha Legion attacked the Sol System and by fighting together the Frigates were able to take a great toll on the Traitors' ships.[1c]
