A Salamander is a large lizard native to the volcanic world of Nocturne. The Salamanders Space Marine Chapter is named after these mighty beasts, with whom they share Nocturne as their homeworld, and also had a part in the Chapter's first beginnings. The final initiation for a Salamander Scout is to hunt down and slay one of these beasts. A particularly large and dangerous variety of salamander known as firedrakes can breathe fire, weigh up to several tons, and are found on Mount Deathfire.[1]
