Captain Cortez[1]

Alessio Cortez was a Captain of the Crimson Fists. He was known to instill a sense of stubborn pride in his men and to carry on figthing no matter what, ignoring wounds that would even stop a Space Marine.[1]

After the formation of the Great Rift, Cortez went missing after fighting Eldar Corsairs. His current whereabouts are unknown, but his old friend Pedro Kantor is convinced he’s still alive.[3]. He has since been replaced by Isidore Haleous.[2]

Notable battles

  • 853.M41: The Battle of Steel Cross: Cortez slew an Ork warboss and his entire retinue, famously disarming the Warboss by twisting his torso after getting the Ork's sword stuck in his ribcage[1]
  • 867.M41: broke through Eldar lines and successfully completed his mission despite suffering seventeen wounds[1]
  • 892.M41: defended a breach in the Fortress Maladon for twenty-one hours of constant fighting and the loss of his whole squad[1]
  • 903.M41: fought the Kardian six-week campaign without supplies that had been lost to enemy fire during deployment[1]
