Devourers are a Tyranid Bio-weapon.
In 4th Edition Devourers are formed of a conical lump of flesh filled with worm-like organism, with shiny black heads, which are launched at the enemy and burrow into their body, consuming their nervous system and brain and driving the victim insane.1-p30
In 2nd Edition Devourers were one of the most horrific weapons available to the Tyranids. It looks like a cone of flesh coming out of the jaws of another creature.
