A Planetary Defence Force (or PDF) is an individual Imperial world's governmental military. Each Imperial World is required to possess local military forces for its own defence. The PDF also acts as a source of trained soldiers for the Imperial Guard. These forces are imperial planets first line of defence against the forces that oppose the imperium.
