History
In the time of Calligos Winterscale's Great-Grandfather - a period of roughly 500 years as of M42 - the planet supplied House Winterscale with fruit and fibre processed from the local forests. The population all lived in cities safely away from the wilderness. Then Xenos raided and enslaved the people. When the Planetary Governor fled, the people left the cities for the dangerous wilderness, becoming the Children of Quetza Temer'. Three arks of settlers were supposed to come to repopulate the planet, but as of M42 have not arrived.[1c]
People
The Children of Quetza Temer are a tribe in decline due to an unknown virus. They have reverted to primitive life over at least a 500 year period. They now revere Quetza Temer a god-like being said to have given them knowledge, much of which written in High Gothic which the tribe can no longer understand. They also revere the Aquila whom they call the Two-Headed Eagle God. The tribe has a punishment - sacrificium - which has the offenders journey to the Deadland for atonement.[1d]
