Founding Chapter: Ultramarines[1]
Homeworld: Samothar[1]
Colours: White and Yellow[1]

The Illuminators are an Ultramarines Successor Chapter.[1]

History

They are warrior-knights of valor and nobility, whose Chapter's culture is heavily influenced by the tribes of their Homeworld Samothar. These tribes worship the Emperor as a sun god and the Illuminators believe it is their duty to illuminate the darkness of the Halo Zone, where Samothar resides. In that way, the Chapter ensures the Imperium's foes have no shadows to hide in within that realm. This is also combined with the belief, that the Illuminators must carry the Imperium's light into the furthest reaches of the galaxy as well. As a result of doing so, the Chapter has managed to forge strong bonds with several prominent Rogue Trader Houses.[1]

Trivia

The Illuminators and Samothar were created by the Games Workshop employee Gavin. They appeared in White Dwarf 515.[1]
