An Orb of Despair is an item used by Dark Eldar Haemonculi.[1]

These heavy black spheres contain raw negative energy that once unleashed can reduce a grown man to a gibbering wreck in a heartbeat. The device functions similar to a blackhole, but where the former draws matter into itself, the Orbs of Despair feed upon sorrow they inflict to become more potent. Developed by The Hex, their technology amongst the most closely guarded secrets by the Haemonculi Coven.[2]
