The Land Raider is a tracked vehicle originally designed prior to the Emperor's rule, in the time when humans first moved into space. When the Age of Strife came upon the galaxy, production ceased, like much else. With the rise of the Emperor, these vehicles were incorporated into their forces and used as heavy transports and hard points.

They are used by the Space Marines, either loyal or heretic, and maintained its superior design throughout time. Like the Rhino, its versatility makes it a very popular choice throughout the galaxy.

Its armament consists of 2 pairs of twin-linked Lascannons in the side sponsens and one twin-linked Heavy Bolter. The Land Raider can also carry 10 Space Marines in Power Armour or 5 in Terminator Armour. Every Land Raider has his own Machine Spirit that allows it to fire and/or move if the crew is disabled.

The Black Templars created their own version of the Land Raider called the Land Raider Crusader. The Crusader pattern Land Raider was officially recognized by the Techpriests of Mars in 763.M39, thus authorizing any Space Marines force to incorporate such vehicles into their forces.
