ImperiumPortalAdeptusMechanicusPortalHololithic Projectors,1 or just Holo-Projectors,22b are Imperial devices, that display holo images or , recordings,1 or live holo-casts9a sometimes called hololiths.511
Description
Hololithic images are used for a variety of purposes involving 3D displays in communication,9a strategic planning, and decoration.5 Hololith banners9b and holo-statues might be used as decoration and display.5 A cartolith is a hololith map9c or 3D display of a map, as used in Space Marine visor displays.9d ===Hololith===A hololith operates on a blend of material-immaterial technology,12 allowing for medium range communications13 on a speed faster than light.12 Hence, hololiths lack the communications lag inherent to regular, light-speed bound electromagnetic technology. Still, the range of hololithic technology is limited to a solar system, any communications further out need to use astrotelepathy.13 The light projection of hololiths are typically either blue, green, or some shade between. The form created by the projection ribbons are heavily striated mote strands, not quite true-pict-quality. Frameshift technologies made flaws inevitable and can't be ironed out due to simple physics. At close range and in good conditions, the best holocast provided a phantom figure, alongside an audio buzzing. Jag and tear is common in long-range holocasts. One must be fairly close to one another, in astronomical terms, to properly engage in a holocast conversation.9a ===Pojector===Holo-Projectors are typically cased in brass and surrounded by chrome-sheathed cables and hissing steam, constructed and maintained by some of the most ancient and sacred rituals. Projectors are most often found in briefing rooms where they can be linked to a cogitator or another data feed. From this data input a cone-shaped, blue-tinged image is projected by the device.22b
Another way of image projection is through the use of an inserted Data-Crystal, which the Projectors cause to spin and then send a beam of light into. Doing so causes the images or recordings the Crystal contains to be displayed and any nearby lights may need to be dimmed, for the Projectors to show a more clearer image.1
Usage
Hololithic Projectors can also be found on the bridges of starships, visually representing the data collected by the spaceship's sensor array. Shaded in laser blue, the resulting tri-d image can be of a star system, with each planet individually displayed,3a or of a hostile armada, with identified enemy ships having their armament and manoeuvring capabilities displayed beneath their tri-d simulacra. The capabilities of unknown spaceship are also displayed, estimated based upon mass, power signature and similarities to known vessels.3b
Hololithic technology can be applied on a variety of scales. Sometime used in small hand-held devices known as Holo Wafers,2a or to project an image of a large, glowing holo statue several meters tall in a bazaar or other area of a hive city.7 Some digital weapons are also equipped with technology to create a hololith.8
Known patterns
The Holo-reactive Prime User Interface is a type of holo-projection that is controllable by the user with simple gestures or series of movements. The user is surrounded by the three-dimensional images and simply has to 'press', 'pull' or 'turn' the holos to manipulate, activate or deactivate the device. This control method vastly improves the Projector's responses and accuracy and allows for significant miniaturization in comparison to Projectors using conventional control systems. Recent advancements even allows the tailoring of the Prime User Interface to its available surrounding, making it excel in cramped conditions.4
The Holo-reactive Prime User Interface was recreated from research conducted into pre-Imperial times at Temple Majoris of the Machine God. It can be integrated with every Erechtheus-pattern subsystem.4 ===Vid-Imager===Vid-Imager is a small hololithic recording device.6 ==See also==*Holo Wafer*Holo-field*Actuality Sphere
