The Sons of Orar are a Codex Chapter and Successor Chapter of the Ultramarines.[1b] They are one of the ten Shield Chapters of Ultramar.[15]
Contents
Overview
Though the history of the Sons of Orar has been lost, what is known is that they revere Orar, an Ultramarines Captain who won great renown in the wake of the Horus Heresy, and claim him as their spiritual patriarch.[1b][1c] They are currently one of the 10 Shield Chapters of Ultramar.[10]
The red omega chapter symbol is closely related to the Ultramarines symbol. They appear to possess a large amount of Corvus-pattern power armour suits in their armoury.

Notable Battles
- 143.M41: The Jorun Retaliation — En route to the Gothic War an Imperial Battlegroup, the 15th Heraklion Ironclads turned on their Commissariat attachment and went renegade. Investigations into this turn of events uncovered the foul xenos taint of Dark Eldar, who had managed to ensnare and corrupt General Jorun and his command structure. Jorun and his fleet raided planet after planet, enslaving whole populations for their masters. The full Howling Griffons chapter was given command of the strike force, with support from the Ultramarines and Sons of Orar chapters.[2]
- Late M41: Siege of Alaitoc — The Sons of Orar provided the Astartes contingent for the Imperial assault on the craftworld Alaitoc. Committed to the second wave of the attack, the Sons did a great deal of damage to the Eldar defenders before Chapter Master Achol Nadeus ordered their withdrawal.[3a][11]
- 999.M41: 13th Black Crusade.[7]
- M42: Plague Wars — The Sons of Orar provide 3 Companies.[8]
- M42: The Ultramarian Reclamation - The Sons of Orar provide 4 companies and move on the world of Gavromor. However they encountered unexpected empyric anomalies and requested Inquisitorial assistance. They were further classified as Perditum Traitoris Diabolus, though the details of what this entails remains unknown.[15]

The Sons of Orar recruit from juvenile veterans of tunnel fighting on the hive world of Armato.[3b]

- The chapter shares a name with the planet Orar, a Hive World in the Gothic Sector. The significance of this is unknown.
