A Luna Wolves fleet led by Horus responds to a distress call from a scout ship lured into a minefield. Horus discovers that the attackers have boarded the ship and comes face to face with the intruders' leader: the last Primarch Alpharius. Alpharius remains at Horus's side for several months before journeying to Terra and meeting the Emperor of Mankind.[17g][21x][32g]

833.M30 Osiris Rebellion - The eleven star systems of the Osiris Cluster declare independence from the Imperium of Man. Gren Vosotho, Legion Commander of the XIII Legion, sends the 12th Expeditionary Fleet to end the rebellion. Failures of intelligence turn what was intended to be a swift decapitation strike into a battle of attrition against a previously-unknown xenos breed that drives the civilians to attack the Legiones Astartes in droves. The strike force withdraws, suffering serious losses, including Commander Vosotho and the Legion's flagship Sethaln's Thunder. Command falls to Marius Gage. The Osiris Cluster is blockaded.[28b]
834.M30 The 12th Expeditionary Fleet returns to the Osiris Cluster with specialized reinforcements. The fleet discovers the worlds either littered with unburied dead or locked in civil war. The Osirian Psybrid xenoforms are nowhere to be found, though investigation uncovers the history of their insidious, covert infiltration of the cluster.[10x]
