The Red Ark was an Adeptus Mechanicus Ark Mechanicus ship (designation 20022563529) from the Forge World of Mars.
Contents
History
Assigned to the Blood Angels homeworld of Baal, the Red Ark searched out and came to the asteroid that would become the space hulk called Olethros, searching for an unknown chaotic artefact. It mined the asteroid and successfully recovered the artefact. Some catastrophe befell the ship and its crew and it became trapped in the asteroid.[1b] Sometime afterwards, the ship became infested with Tyranid genestealers. The Red Ark was found by the crew of the Rogue Trader ship Tregrom. After tethering their ship to the Red Ark, the Tregrom's crew began to salvage what they could from the ship, including its inventories of weapons, Astartes armour, and even STCs normally restricted only to the Blood Angels. While transferring the skeleton of a massive tyranid, the tyranids nesting within the Red Ark attacked the crew of the Tregrom, slaughtering them.[1a]
In late M41, a Dark Angels terminator squad entered the ship and killed the broodmother nesting there, afterwards killing several genestealer cultist psykers, before dispersing a mutagenic virus that would target and kill the rest of the tyranid nest within the ship.[1b] The ship was presumably destroyed upon the total destruction of the Olethros.
