The Kroothawk (Krootis Accipiter) is a species of raptor-bird originating from the Kroot homeworld of Pech.[1]

A whole family of Kroothawks exist, and they are found on all known Kroot homeworlds. They are powerful, fast-moving hunters that are also known to act as scavengers.[1]

They are presumably the progenitors of the Kroot race.[1] This is supported by the fact that the Kroot themselves often create totems in honour of this creature, used during ancestor worship rituals providing foresight and wisdom.[2]
