Large flightless birds native to Aexe Cardinal, Struthids have grey feathers and vast hooked beaks, powering along on massive, blue-fleshed limbs.[1b]

Description

Struthids are used as mounts by the local Rough Rider forces known as psicavalry because of mind-link implants between the rider and his bird which lets the man drive the bird.[1b] Young Struthids have sharp foot-claws three centimetres long and can be white-plumed and silver-beaked. Their beaks can crack the spend brass case of a .30 bullet in two.[1c] Selected Struthids also pull warcarts, which are used during official events as ceremonial transports. These Struthids are twenty hands high, huge beasts bigger than the ones used as cavalry mounts.[1a]
