Sergeant is a term used in Imperial Guard and Space Marine forces and is used to represent a solider who undertakes the command of a single squad of men (usually up to a maximum of 10 men).
Other races use a similar method, such as an Ork Nob or a Chaos Space Marine Aspiring Champion.
