Background
The Angels of Absolution stand out from the other Dark Angels successors as their armour is bone white compared to the dark colours of the other chapters.[3][4]
Their structure and belief are still very similar to those of their progenitor chapter, to the point that the two chapters have often joined forces and pooled resources in the hunt of The Fallen. The only noticeable difference in their doctrines is that the Angels of Absolution consider themselves absolved (nomen est omen) of their own sins during the Fall of Caliban, and place a greater amount of emphasis on their holy duty of just hunting the Fallen as such and not to redeem themselves.[5b]
It's probable that the Inner Circle of this chapter gained a great victory to consider themselves absolved, though whatever this victory was is known only to the chapter and they believe they have earned it. However this belief isn't shared amongst the other Unforgiven Chapters, but all strife seems to have been contained and they continue to cooperate with them.[6]
Notable Battles
- Siege of Vraks: The Angels of Absolution intervene in the final stages of the Siege to capture Alpha Legion Warlord Arkos the Faithless on direct orders of Supreme Grand Master Azrael. Master Yafrir leads the assault but loses his life at the hands of Arkos himself.[7a]
- Corinthian Crusade: This campaign was against the Ork empire of Charadon. This seven year crusade inflicted heavy damages on the Orks and delayed the invasion of Waaagh! Argluk by 30 years.[2]
- Thirteenth Black Crusade: The Angels of Absolution fielded all 10 companies against the forces of Chaos in this conflict.[1]
- Achilus Crusade: The Angels of Absolution sent their forces in search of the lost Consecrator 3rd Company in the Slinnar Drift, deploying two squadrons of Gladius Frigates, each vessel carrying a single squad, often of Scouts. They also deployed a Strike Cruiser with a demi-company to the Jericho Reach to help fight in the Canis Salient.[6]
Notable Members
- Yafrir - Master, killed in the Siege of Vraks[7b]
