Fire Support Squads are an organisational unit in a modern post-Primaris Space Marine Codex-Compliant Chapter.^[1]

Fire Support Squads provide covering fire to their Battleline and Close Support brethren, whether by assassinating key targets, suppressing the foe, or hunting enemy armour.^[1]

Trivia

The following information is not to be regarded as officially sanctioned and/ or is not written from an in-universe point of view. A detailed explanation of the term "Trivia" as used in the Lexicanum can be found here.

• Hellfury Squads are mentioned only once, in the 8th Edition Ultramarines Codex. At the time of the Codex's publishing, no such unit existed, and no unit with that name exists today. Hellfuries could potentially be a unit established in the lore but without rules or models, similar to an Overlord Gunship.^[5]

Conflicting Sources

• Infernus Squads are referred to as Close Support Squads in Codex: Space Marines (10th Edition) (pg. 12), but promotional images, including some from the very same Codex, show them wearing the Fire Support Squad icon.^[3a][4] This could be a typo, as Aggressors, another short-range flamer unit, are also Fire Support Squads.
