Taking place shortly after the establishment of the Empire and the end of the [[Mont'au]], it was the Tau's first encounter with the [[Ork]] race. Attempts at diplomacy led to disaster and slaughter, and the Tau suffered bloody defeats at [[Kor'voss]] and [[Vaslan Prime]]. In the end the Tau had to resort to a campaign of extermination to drive the Greenskins from their systems, something aided with the introduction of the new [[Pulse Rifle]].{{Fn|1}}
