''The Pyre'' are listed in [[Codex: Chaos Space Marines (3rd Edition)#2nd Codex|Codex: Space Marines (3rd Edition, 2nd Codex)]]. Formerly a loyalist Chapter given the task of fighting Chaos around the Eye of Terror, they turned traitor during the 13th Crusade. The Imperium forced them to fight on a death-world with 85% covered in flame. The marines turned renegade when on one attack they drove a whole section of traitor guardsmen into a flame-chasm. The death toll numbered about 2000. Chaos then spoke to the marines as they found their new power and delight in burning everything: friend or foe. The Pyre were quickly cast from the eye of terror after about four years as their unstable nature had already razed three planets to the ground.
