Sign Language

Sign Language is a type of non verbal communication, that uses hand signals and gestures.[1]
Several such languages exist within the Imperium, including:
- Battle sign — Has a numerous variants used by Space Marines[1] and Astra Militarum.[3]
- Graph-binarc[1]
- Hortcode — used by the Space Marine Legions alongside Battle-Sign.[2a] Also known to the Perpetuals John Grammaticus and Ollanius Persson.[2b]
- Thoughtmark — used by the Sisters of Silence[1]
- Voidsys[1]
Other species are known to make use of sign language, including the T'au. The T'au species regularly augment their in-person communication with hand signs and gestures; functioning like the facio-gesture of humans facial expressions. T'au Fire Warriors also utilise their own form of battle sign.[4]
