Bike
Bikes are among the most numerous vehicles of the 41st Millenium. They are used by a multitude of races, for a variety of purposes. They are used for lightning assaults sand reconnaissance missions. Bikes allow for the outmaneuvering and overwhelming of foes at key positions.[7a] Wheeled bikes and trikes have two and three wheels respectively. Vehicles that have four or more wheels, such as Quads, are considered to be Wheeled Vehicles rather than bikes.[10]
This article covers primarily Wheeled bikes. Bikes are also capable of being Skimmers/Flyers - see Jetbikes.[8]
Not all species nor factions make use of mechanical bikes. Others, such as the Kroot, predominantly use Cavalry or mounted creatures instead.[7b][9]
Known Variants
Imperial
Space Marine Bikes
Most Space Marine Bikes are armed with twin-linked bolters mounted between the handle-bars, both for Firstborn Space Marine Bike Squads[1] and Primaris Outriders.[13]
Imperial Guard
Certain Rough Rider units of the Imperial Guard use mechanical bikes as mounts; although much less robust and heavily armed than their Space Marine counterparts, these bikes are used in very similar roles.[6]
Arbites
The Adeptus Arbites utilize the Rumbler bike.[5]
Chaos
Chaos Space Marines
Chaos Space Marine bikes are of a nearly identical design to their Firstborn counterparts, although the riders often carry Close Combat Weapons to slaughter their enemies in passing.[2]
Ork Warbikes
Ork Warbikes are ramshackle machines but are sturdy enough to fulfil the Ork desire to go fast. They are often painted red for extra speed and are deadly in combat.[3]
Genestealer Cults
Outrider elements of the Genestealer Cults make use of Atlan-class dirtcycles.
Trike
Trikes are a subset of Bike that has three wheels, rather than two.[10][7b]
Orks
The Deffkilla Wartrike is an Ork Warbike Trike variant used by Warbosses.[15]
Ironhead Squat Prospectors
The Kin of the Ironhead Squat Prospectors on Necromunda utilize Svenotar Scout Trikes.[11]
Squat Bikes
Squat bikes are sturdy and designed to move Squat warriors rapidly around the battlefield where they can engage in combat with various deadly combat weapons. The Squats also used Trikes, which were larger and had a crew of two. The difference in name reflected size and role, rather than number of wheels; both varieties typically possessed three wheels[4] though some examples are observed with two wheels.[12]
Other Species
The Tau and Necrons do not use bikes, although they do employ special vehicles (Tetras and Destroyers, respectively), in similar battlefield roles. [Help]
