Mortifax
Mortifax was a Space Marine who served in the Deathwatch as a Black Shield.[1]
Biography
He was originally from the Sons of Medusa Chapter, and was known as Kaspar Dabanville. At some point he was called on to serve in the Deathwatch.[1]
Over the course of 106 years of service with the Deathwatch, Dabanville developed a particular hatred for the Aeldari. This led him on a number of missions to scour entire worlds of the xenos. Eventually, he led seven Kill-Teams to the planet of Brand's Gate, where he planned to enter the Aeldari Webway and take the fight to the xenos.[1]
However, on penetrating the Webway, the Aeldari sprung their trap and ambushed the Kill-Teams. The Aeldari killed every Astartes save for Dabanville, whom they allowed to live. Returning to Brand's Gate in humiliation, Dabanville took the oath of the Black Shield, changing his name to Mortifax and painting over his armour to eliminate any connection to his old chapter.[1]
