Orison VIII is an Imperial Shrine[1] and Cemetery World, that lies within the Cadian Gate.[2]
History
Thousands of sepulchers cover its surface, including notably that of Saint Nadezhda.[2a]
During the 13th Black Crusade, one of Orison VIII's shrines was attacked by the Black Legion Chaos Sorcerer Skathan.[2a] The Sisters of Battle sent the Order of the Sacred Rose to deal with the threat, and during the campaign Celestian Sacresant Aveline managed to kill the Sorcerer.[2b] However shortly after, the Great Rift formed, allowing a Bloodthirster to manifest on Orison and lead with it Daemonic hordes.[2b] The Sisters then fought desperately against this foe, who revealed to be attempting to open a portal to Holy Terra itself. During the final battle in a charnel pit, Aveline was able to banish the Bloodthirster back to the Warp with the sword of Saint Arabella[2c], becoming a Living Saint in the process.[2d]
