Ramethos
An Eliminator belonging to Zavian Squad of the Lamenters, Ramethos was a Primaris sent to bolster the Lamenters' numbers after the conclusion of their Penitent Crusade.[1a] Despite his origins, he still suffered the perpetual misfortune of his Chapter. This would often result in a deep melancholia, causing him to eventually tattoo a red teardrop under his left eye.[1b]
Ramethos eventually served as part of the strike force sent to drive the Tyranids from the world of Raphaela. Despite the world suffering Tyrannaforming advanced enough that even the enhanced physiology of the Astartes could find the atmosphere potentially lethal, it was considered vital by Imperial logicians, due to being the sector's breadbasket.[1c] Lamenters of the Third Penitential Company[1d] and Repentant Company, of which Ramethos was a part,[1e] were deployed to the city of Pallas on Raphaela's southern continent,[1f] alongside the White Panthers, Blood Angels, and elements of the Astra Militarum.[1g]
The strike force suffered heavy losses. After losing the other two members of Zavian Squad, Ramethos swore an Oath of Moment to slay the Tyranid Prime guiding the forces within the city.[1b]
Unfortunately, ill-fortune dogged his steps. After arriving too late to save a squad of Intercessors already engaging the Prime and losing all but one of his precious Executioner rounds to a Gaunt attack that just managed to put a claw through his magazine, he was able to rescue the Intercessor Dagan - although swiftly discovered the fellow Lamenter was mortally wounded. Dagan joined Ramethos in his Oath of Moment, then sacrificed himself to provide a distraction that would allow Ramethos to assassinate the Prime. Despite his targeting optics becoming fouled by alien spores and a weapon jam at the worst possible moment, Ramethos' quick thinking and skill as a sniper allowed him to successfully bringing down the Tyranid Prime.[1]
Ramethos' ultimate fate remains unknown. Left with dead armour in a toxic environment which could kill him in hours, while Earthshakers began to demolish the southern boundary of the city, Ramethos had resigned himself to death. However, he was able to spot Thunderhawks emblazoned with Lamenters iconography, seeking out survivors - unfortunately, too late to save Dagan.[1c]
