Artellus Numeon
Artellus Numeon was a member of the Salamanders during the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy. Born on Terra as opposed to Nocturne, Numeon was a veteran member of the Legion and served as Captain of the 1st Company Firedrakes, Equerry to the Primarch Vulkan, and commander of the elite Pyre Guard.[1] Following the Drop Site Massacre, Numeon and a sparse number of Salamanders survived, fearing Vulkan dead (or captured) and vowing to exact vengeance on the traitor forces. Numeon organized the retreat of the remaining Salamanders (as well as surviving Raven Guard and Iron Hands) off Isstvan V and onto the warship Fire Ark. For the next several months, the Fire Ark conducted hit-and-run raids against traitor forces. Numeon and his surviving forces eventually tracked a Word Bearers force under Dark Apostle Valdrekk Elias to the world of Traois. There, Numeon came into contact with John Grammaticus, a member of the Cabal and discovered that like Grammaticus, the Word Bearers were seeking the artifact known as the Fulgurite under the direct orders of Erebus. Numeon, his Battle-Brothers, and Grammaticus battled their way through Word Bearers and eventually managed to obtain the Fulgurite. However Grammaticus used a hidden Digital Weapon to blind Numeon, and stole the Fulgurite away as the Salamander Captain wreathed in pain. Numeon was then shot by a Bolt Pistol round fired by Dark Apostle Elias, who was soon joined via Warp Portal by Erebeus himself. As the Word Bearers and Grammaticus left Traois, Numeon was left for dead and his ultimate fate remains unknown.[2]
