Hive Tyrant

Revision as of 12:16, 8 February 2007 by Jonru (talk | contribs) (added various pictures)

A Hive Tyrant is the closest thing to a leader unit that can be commonly found in a Tyranid force. They are extremely powerful, large and strong and may make use of massive close combat strength or specially augmented ranged bio-weaponry, although they excel in both.

They are highly mutatable, including the development of unfeasably large scythes or extra thick body carapace. They are also highly psychic and closly related to the Hive Mind, acting as control nodes for those lesser beings all around them. Some mutants are born with wings giving them a major advantage over other Tyrants, however they are more vulnerable to heavy weapons and anti-tank weapons, in fact they lack of the stronger tyranids carapace armour.

Imperial techno-magi believe that Hive Tyrants form the repository of the Hive Fleet's collective consciousness, which means they completely embody the Hive Mind but their destruction does not in any way diminish its presence.
