Ragnar Blackmane
Ragnar Blackmane was born a barbarian in the local tribes of Fenris. Chosen to be a Space Marine of the Space Wolves chapter by a Wolf Priest, destined for greatness even before his induction as a battle-brother, at the end of his initiation rite he returned to the chapter fortress of The Fang bearing the pelt of a blackmaned Fenrisian wolf, a notoriously vicious breed. Ragnar soon became a Blood Claw, but caused an uproar when he threw the Spear of Russ into the warp in a desperate attempt to stop the fallen Primarch of the Thousand Sons. He was then made a Wolfblade, assigned to Terra to guard an allied Navis Nobilite group. He was the first to become a Wolf Lord without going through the ranks of the Grey Hunters as by tradition, rather instead passing straight through as one of the Wolf Guard.
Ragnar's own Wolf Guard consists of Brothers Egil (who went through basic training with Ragnar) and Gunnar, as well as the Rune Priest Njal Stormcaller. Another member, Sergeant Hakon, was hit in the head by a lasgun shot and later died from this injury.1
