Scavenger Engine

The Scavenger Engine is a type of large, flight-capable Imperial drilling vehicle.[1a]

Description

Airborne by use of howling rotor blades and resembling an enormous armoured flea, the Scavenger Engine features a bulky mid-section and a small front cabin mounting an armaglass viewport. It can carry dozens of miners and servitors in the front and hundreds in the middle section.[1b] The middle section can also function as a cargo bay by carrying pallets of equipment and several smaller, wheeled rigs, deployable through loading doors that have extendable grappling ramps, winches and rotary drills.[1c] The vehicle is controlled by a pilot seated in the cabin on a command throne, surrounded by viewscreens, and assisted by mono-function servitors welded into wall-mounted logic engines. Communication between the pilot and the servitors is managed through a plasteel skull cap that links the pilot directly to a control panel by cabling and wiring.[1b]

The Scavenger Engine is equipped with auspexes[1b] and dangling drill cables,[1a] adapted from lascannon technology[1b] and capable of punching through the hardest rock.[1a] The drill cables are useable as a form of improvised if inaccurate weapon.[1b]
