Originally part of the Emperor's Children Legion under the command of the Captain Kasperos Telmar, the 12th company was corrupted by the forces of Slaanesh and fought for Horus during the Horus Heresy. During the Battle of Terra they seared away the remains of Sunset City.[1f] Following the Battle of Harmony and the shattering of the Emperor's Children, the 12th became its own independent warband still under the command of Telmar, now a corrupted entity known as the Radiant King in His Joyful Repose. Serving as one of the largest Emperor's Children warbands to operate outside of the Eye of Terror on a regular basis. The inner circle of the Radiant King was known as the Joybound.[1a][1b]
In M34 did the 12th, together with Fabius Bile and some of his followers, assaulted the Eldar Craftworld of Lugganath.[1g] During the fighting, the Radiant King was killed shortly before he could transform into a Daemon Prince.[1g] Most of the remaining warband chose to die on Lugganath in their orgy of excess instead of retreating with Fabius Bile on his ship Vesalius. The survivors were given chose to serve Fabius or die.[1h]
Years later, the surviving 12th Warriors proved troublesome for Fabius, and during one of his surgeries attempted a coup against him.[2g]
During a quest for long-lost Emperor's Children Gene-Seed on Solemnace, together with forces from the Phoenix Conclave lead by Flavius Alkenex, did many of the 12th sided with Flavius and his warriors during their attempt to assassinate Bile. When Bile's clone of Fulgrim intervened aboard the Vesalius, most of the treacherous members of the 12th either died or were overcome with awe at the Primarch's reappearance. Many more died in the meantime at the hands of Necrons on Solemnace. In the aftermath, Bile placed Savona in control of whatever small amounts of the 12th remained.[2e]
The 12th Millennial continued to serve under Bile and his Consortium, though they soon became bored and engaged in even greater acts of debauchery.[3a] Savona nonetheless agreed to aid Bile against the Dark Eldar in the Battle of Belial IV. However seeing the battle was lost, she departed with the remainder of the 12th to chart their own destiny.[3b]
