1st Company, Raven Guard Chapter
The 1st Company of the Raven Guard, known as "The Blackwings" is the Chapter's Veteran Company.[1a][1b][7]
Overview
The 1st Company are the mightiest warriors of the Raven Guard known for their mastery of assassination. Besides standard Terminator Armour, they are given access to the best stealth wargear in the Chapter and thus many don Phobos Armour. Terminators are only deployed against the staunchest resistance. Similarly, they often utilize swift gunships over heavily armoured ground vehicles.[1b]
Besides their combat duty, they guard the forbidden Apothecarion of the Ravenspire on Deliverance's Farmoon Night.[1b]
Elevation to the 1st Company entitles battle-brothers to wear the Cruciform symbol of veterans. Other than this, the marines eschew any other ornamentation or tokens of rank that have no practical use in battle. When members of the 1st Company are attached to strike forces drawn from other companies of the Raven Guard, they adopt the designations of the unit to which they are seconded.[1b]
