273rd Steel Legion
The Armageddon 273rd Steel Legion, known as the Desert Vultures, was a regiment of the Armageddon Steel Legion.[1a]
Notable Actions
The 273rd participated in the defence of its homeworld against the orks in the Third War for Armageddon. The bulk of the regiment was deployed to Hive Helsreach, taking part in the Helsreach Crusade.[1a] Despite taking heavy casualties over the course of the siege of Helsreach, at least some portion of the regiment endured which took part in the last stand at the Temple of the Emperor Ascendant.[1d]
In addition, a number of platoons were detached from Helsreach proper, tasked with guarding various defensive positions in the wastelands[1b], most notably the D-16 West outpost - the tomb of Oberon.[1c]
Heraldry
The 273rd's Guardsmen bore their regimental insignia, which featured a black carrion bird clutching an Imperial aquila in its talons, on their shoulders.[1a]
