An astropathic duct near the Ghoul Stars.[2]

The astropathic ducts,[1b] astro telepathic ducts,[2] Astra Telepathica Ducts,[5] or telepathic ducts[3] are a system of astrotelepathic pathways across space that allow the transmission of astropathic messages to different parts of the Imperium.[1b]

Astropathic Relay Stations of the Adeptus Astra Telepathica are located on various worlds along a duct's course. These relays interpret and pass along the dreams, visions, and nightmares of the messages passing along the duct.[5]

Overview

Astropathic Ducts consist of chains of worlds which pass along astropathic messages — pathways in which astro telepathic visions travel through the warp. There are hundreds of Astropathica Telepathica Ducts weaving throughout the Imperium — always in flux, rising and falling. Each is entirely unique, potentially consisting of hundreds of worlds. Some are carefully crafted, having Astropathic Relays and psychic nodes placed on various select worlds along stable warp routes. Others seemingly appear out of nowhere, boosted by unseen winds.[5]

The system of astropathic ducts had been in place for millennia by the time of the Indomitus Crusade, and was on the verge of failure. Channels to the other side of the Great Rift had to be severed, to prevent warp-borne madness from affecting the astropaths that used the system. However, as the Indomitus Crusade swept across the galaxy, Hub-Fortresses sprung up in its wake, providing support to the withered network.[1b]
