Balthazar (Knight)

Biography

Traditionally, a Kingsward must be not just an excellent warrior, but they must also be loyal above all else. Tybalt chose Baron Balthazar as his Kingsward for these very qualities - the Baron's ancestors have protected the High Kings of Terryn for seven generations. It is Balthazar's duty to protect Tybalt at all times, whether they are armoured for war or in court. Befitting his status, Balthazar pilots the legendary Knight Paladin Ever-Stalwart. His position as Kingsward is denoted by his quartered blue-and-cream tilting plate.[1]

After the Freeblade Knight Living Litany fell to Heresy and became the Litany of Destruction, Balthazar made it his goal to destroy the Renegade Knight. He later tracked the Litany of Destruction to Tellerax Prime[2], but Balthazar was defeated in battle with the Renegade Knight and the Ever-Stalwart was left almost completely destroyed. Afterwards, Litany of Destruction left for the Nachmund System and the House Taranis Knight Drantar was charged with bringing the Renegade to justice.[3]

Trivia

  • Balthazar, like many of the Knights of House Terryn, has a similar name to a character from a play by William Shakespeare; in this case, Balthasar, a servant of the Montague household from Romeo and Juliet.
