Canoptek Constructs refer to the wholly artificial mindless automatons utilized by the Necron race.[1]

Overview

Unlike the Necrons, who have their origins as the Necrontyr, Canoptek Constructs never were once organic beings and were created by their masters to serve as robotic servants. Canoptek Constructs oversee a variety of tasks, from labor to construction to war. During the Great Sleep while the Necrons slumbered the Canoptek Constructs remained active to oversee the maintenance and defense of Tomb Worlds.[1a] Canoptek constructs are built from the same living metal as the Necrons, and are powered by absorbing the radiant energy of their surroundings. Canoptek constructs will periodically go into a sleep-like state where they expose energy collector panels in order to recharge their internal batteries.[2] Canoptek constructs are self-replicating, and Tomb Spyders are known to craft entire legions of additional robots for their tasks.[1b]

Canoptek constructs are typically slaved to the Deep Spirit master program of their Tomb World and contain complex decision matrices that will calculate an effective response to any threat. Should the threat to a Tomb World be too great for the Canoptek constructs to handle, they may reinitiate reawakening protocols for the world's slumbering Necrons.[1a] Besides this role Canoptek Constructs will ceaselessly and mindlessly pursue the tasks they have been given for eternity if given the chance.[1b]
