Celestian Insidiant

Celestian Insidiants are a type of Celestian warrior of the Sisters of Battle which specialize in hunting Psykers.[1]

Overview

Celestian Insidiant

Celestian Insidiants are the chosen few among the Celestian order who specialize in hunting down and eliminating Rogue Psykers. Premiere witch-hunters, it is considered a great honour to join their ranks and consist only of the most honed Celestians. Once considered to join Insidiant order, they undergo gruelling training that tests their spiritual endurance in the face of all forms of corruption including the Warp. They are also trained to endure nauseating and disorientating Null Fields due to their use of such equipment in the field. Those who are unable to bare Null Fields for the required period are judged failures, while those that endure become acclimatised to the constant state of paranoia, hate, and terror caused by null energy. These subjects are rendered even more intolerant than before, but become better prone to sensing the taint of witchery wherever it may be.[2]

To aid them in their role as witch hunters, Insidiants are outfitted with specialist equipment and sanctified weapons designed to confound and destroy those who use sorcerous powers. They also wear elaborate Power Armour adorned with heavy iron-wrought crowns which are believed to focus their faith into a shield against witchcraft. In battle, they most commonly wield heavy maces with null field generators and Condemnor Boltguns that shoot blessed silver stakes that will disrupt the abilities of psykers.[2]

Most famed for their ability to infiltrate hostile territory to seek out and destroy psyker leaders, the constant exposure of Null-energies renders them unnatural aggressive and paranoid. This leads to them not just unleashing their wrath on Human or Xenos Psykers, but also anything that has any taint of heresy. Preachers that stray even slightly from the approved canon, Medicae whose patients fall victim to infection, or commanders who inspire suspicious levels of loyalty may fall victim to the wrath of the Insidiants.[2]
