Alessio Cortez was a Captain of the Crimson Fists. He was known to instil a sense of stubborn pride in his men and to carry on fighting no matter what, ignoring wounds that would even stop a Space Marine.[1]

Biography

Captain Cortez[1]

Cortez has a number of famous feats to his name:

In 853.M41 at the Battle of Steel Cross, Cortez slew an Ork warboss and his entire retinue, famously disarming the Warboss by twisting his torso after getting the Ork's sword stuck in his ribcage.[1]

In 867.M41 he broke through Eldar lines and successfully completed his mission despite suffering seventeen wounds.[1]

In 892.M41 he defended a breach in the Fortress Maladon for twenty-one hours of constant fighting and the loss of his whole squad.[1]

In 903.M41 he fought the Kardian six-week campaign without supplies that had been lost to enemy fire during deployment.[1]

Post-Rynn's World War

Some time after reinforcements arrived during the Invasion of Rynn's World, Cortez and Delevan Deguerro were sent to Terra by Chapter Master Pedro Kantor to convince the High Lords of Terra that the Crimson Fists were still a viable chapter despite their losses and shouldn't be disbanded.[6] Cortez would later embark on a mission alongside four battle brothers to kill the Ork Snagrod. All of them made a death pact that they would either hunt down and destroy Snagrod or not return at all.[7]

After the formation of the Great Rift, Cortez went missing after fighting Eldar Corsairs. His current whereabouts are unknown, but his old friend Pedro Kantor is convinced he’s still alive.[3] He has since been replaced as Captain of Fourth Company by Isidore Haleous.[2]
