Garlon Souleater
Garlon Souleater is a Chaos Sorcerer and spymaster[3] of the Red Corsairs originally of the Mantis Warriors.[2] He is stated to be the most powerful Sorcerer within the warband.[1][2]
Overview
Formerly a Librarian of the Mantis Warriors, he fled into the Maelstrom upon the rebel defeat in the Badab War rather than face Imperial justice. An adept survivor, he leveraged his skills to Huron Blackheart to rise through the ranks of the Red Corsairs. He has since become one of Huron's most trusted advisors, especially on matters regarding the Warp and all things arcane.[3] In particular, he is valued for his ability to hunt new sorcerous artifacts, skein new tides through the Warp, or combat empyric technology used by enemies. Should Daemonic pacts need to be forged to some end by Huron, he will use Garlon as his mouthpiece.[4]
Though he is a formidable warrior with powerful psychic abilities, his greatest strength is his cunning and intellect. Garlon is a born orator, expert manipulator, and possesses a potent ability to dominate the minds of others.[4] He operates a vast network of spies and agents seeded both within the Red Corsairs and amongst Huron's many enemies. This allows Huron to identify any threat against him and foil plots against his power.[3]
Not all of Garlon's agents become his pet willingly. Some are mortals that he has bent to his will using his immense psychic powers. In battle, he can even incite mutinies amongst the crews of enemy warships and cause them to turn on their allies.[3] His abilities in mental manipulation has allowed him to rise high in the Red Corsairs by exposing and crushing plots against Huron's rule.[4]
It is whispered amongst the Red Corsairs that none of its members have ever seen Garlon's face. If this is true or not is irrelevant, for the mystery serves the Sorcerer's own purposes. It has however been many years since the sorcerer has since removed his helm, causing some to believe he no longer can due to some dark corruption.[4]
