The Great Equatorial Wastes or Ash Wastes, is a region of Necromunda, south of the Palatine Cluster. They stretch endlessly across Necromunda's landscape, characterized by toxic skies, oily ash flats, unpredictable storm fronts, and vast expanses of scorched dunes and shimmering hardpan.[1]

Overview

Spanning millions of square kilometers, the region is bordered by the Palatine Cluster to the north, the Dust Wall and Hive Secundus to the east, the Mynerva Cluster to the south, and the Irradium Oceanus to the west.

Despite its harsh environment, the Equatorial Wastes are far from desolate. Waster settlements, trade roads, tubeways, and scrap mines punctuate the region, crucial for north-south trade routes and connecting Hive Primus to Necromunda's orbital sphere. Clan Houses, Noble Houses, and Guilds compete for dominance, seeking control over trade routes and sponsoring prospectors and settlements for profit.[1]

It remains largely lawless, where even House Helmawr influence wanes, and enforcement efforts by Palanite Enforcers and wasteland Precinct-Fortresses are sporadic.[1]
