The Order of the Sombre Vow is a minor Order Militant of the Adepta Sororitas.[1a]
Overview
The Order maintains a convent on the favoured shrine world of Lubentina, being responsible for the protection of the Warmason's Cathedral and Vadok Singh's relics wherein.[1b][1c]
When a Genestealer Cult known as the Cult of the Cataclysm led an insurrection on Lubentina, the Sisters of the Order defended the Warmason's Cathedral from attacks by cultists and Genestealers.[1d] Worse still for the Order, a squadron of Chaos Space Marines of the Iron Warriors Third Grand Company used the Cult's attack as a distraction while they also attacked the Cathedral, seeking to steal a relic known as the Warmason's Casket.[1d][1g]
In the end, the Iron Warriors clashed with the cultists, killed their Magus and Patriarch. The Order was almost wiped out in the crossfire, with Sister Superior Trishala the only survivor, but they were able to prevent the most sacred relics from falling into the wrong hands. In truth, however, Trishala's suvival was no concidence, as she had received a Genestealer's Kiss and thus became, unknowingly, the harbinger of a new Genestealer Cult.[1j]
Heraldry
The colours of the Order are black and crimson, with gold ornaments. The exception to this are those Sisters that form an honour guard for the Cathedral's front entrance; these members of the Order instead wear white.[1c]
